JS/WRKSHP is a production of John Sheppard Studio, a ceramic design studio exploring the tension between geometric precision and handmade imperfection, and the balance between sculpture and function.

Equally inspired by architecture, the urban environment, and the natural world, the studio’s work is characterized by clean geometric shapes built from ceramic slabs and extrusions.

John spent more than 15 years as an art director in the magazine industry, working for a number of publications including New York magazine, Travel + Leisure, and the Wall Street Journal.

After several years of ceramics classes, learning which rules to follow and which to break, he established the studio in 2016 with a focus on handmade ceramics for the home.
